Sorry, I couldn't burn your picture

Swedish hardcore punk band, Refused have hinted of their reformation. Earlier today, (27.3.10) a statement which simply read “coming soon…” was posted on www.officialrefused.com, the band’s official website.

The rumour mill has not stopped churning since the news broke, and some have already pegged the band’s reformation as imminent.

However, with busy ex-frontman Lyxzen presently pursing various creative projects, including new band AC4, (which includes ex-Refused member David Sandstörm) who are set to tour Germany in April; and  Lyxzen’s Swedish band Invasionen who are rumoured to be releasing an album as well as touring this year. And, not forgetting that Lyxzen also runs his own record label Ny Våg, can we really count on a Refused reunion?

After all in Refused’s final farewell letter titled Refused Are Fucking Dead, it made damn clear that the band would never reform. It convincingly stated, “we will never play together again and we will never try to glorify or celebrate what was”.

A more likely alternative which is also circulating at the moment is that Refused will be re-releasing their classic album, Shape of Punk to Come, which was originally released in 1998.

UPDATE: 28.03.10 www.punknews.org updated their coverage of the Refused reunion this morning.
“An anonymous source close to the situation has confirmed that Refused will indeed be reuniting. Plans right now include live performances at some to-be-confirmed European summer festivals. We’ll keep you updated as details come in.”

Lets hope!
